Project Description
Labradoodle History
The Labradoodle is a cross between a Labrador retriever and a Poodle. In 1989 the Guide Dog Association of Australia set out to produce a non-shedding dog suitable for service training. The driving force behind this program, and the goal was to produce a non-shedding guide dog by using a Labrador Retriever and a Standard Poodle. The result of this cross produced intelligent, easily trainable puppies that were the beginning of the Labradoodle as we now know it.
These wonderful critters that we call Australian Labradoodles being part Labrador (playful, loyal) and part Poodle (brainy and low shedding) make wonderful pets and special companions. Barksdale is specializing in Australian Labradoodles that are multi generational. Temperament, health, and allergy friendly, non shedding coats are the priorities we will always strive for in our Doodles.
“I love animals and feel very strongly that people should not be allowed to buy a pet if they are not able to look after it. Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.”
